Shards and ectos
i am a fellow UW and FoW farmer. I am getting prety pised that people are farming and selling there shards for significantly cheaper than the price. This lowers the market for shards and ectos, soon they will be so cheap it wont be worth farming. Is it that hard to sell them at 2k and 4.5-5k ea??!!?!

Yes. It is that hard. The lower you sell them, the faster you sell them. That's probably the idea. Try to sell high and others sell low, no one buys from you.

Maybe they want to sell them at the slightly lower price to sell them quicker. Or maybe its just that the prices are dropping but you are just refusing to accept that.
And with the change to favor expect shards and ecto to drop even more in price anyway just because there are more people to farm it but no increase in demand.

I'm personally loving the drop in ecto and shard prices, so that my ranger can finally get his black leather hotpants.

Shards and ectos pay the rent.
when i head into UW / FoW, i don't go for ectos or shards anymore. they just pay the entrance fees. i go there for the HM golds. a max perfect fire ghostly staff from smites? only in HM. an ecto? peanuts.
i sell em cheap and fast as well, but i'll trade spam in kamadan for quite some time to sell a nice gold.

as far as i know prices have been dropping, I got 2 ectos yesterday for 4.5K each, when I started playing they were quite a lot more. I have even seen people selling shards for 1.5-2K, its just how fast you need the cash.

basicaly the reason i'm farming fow and uw hm is for the gold drops the ectos and shards along the way are just going to get my 55 monk a set of fow armor since i already got a fulll set on my warrior then probly move on to derivsh fow but basicaly the gold items that drop in hm are most of the time perfect and low rq on the good 1's got a R9 str Eturnal shild 5-20% if it had the +30 could have made a killing but its still a good rare shild

When ectos prices are low enough to make it not worthwhile for farming, people will stop farming
And when people stops farming, ectos price will go back up and people starts to farm again
Balanced and problem solved

well, look at this way anet had intended this game to be set up for "the casual" gamer, and this seems to be a shift back towards that sort of gaming experience again, take for example inscribable weapons, most people could never afford a skin they had enjoyed with nice stats, now anyone can, fow is becoming more like a commodity than something that shows as a class distinction, personally, i think it is a positive change to the playing style, but i must say that it is a negative change to the current market system put into play. as favor is more of a common thing than a rarity, ectos are dropping more frequently as EVERYONE is farming at a constant pace at all times of the day rather than sitting there hoping for favor, simple supply and demand, the supply goes up, bye bye demand.
very simple really

Thats the problem, increased favour means more farming time. Coupled with the fact that more people are farming, means prices drop. Its natural

You just have to move on. Ectos and shards aren't in the demand they used to be, since the game as been out for more than two years now and most people already have numerous fow sets, and the new skills/classes have allowed super fast ways to farm them. Not to mention 24/7 favour/scrolls.
Quick smite runs (W/Rt, Rt/Me, etc) can still net you some decent cash but if you really want money you have to get over ectos and shards and farm hard mode for rare skins.
I'll admit, I miss the days of 14k ectos. But what can we do? : o
